Blacksmith Shop

The Blacksmith Shop houses tools that would have been used by a typical blacksmith.

It was originally built as a garage for John and June (Ericson) Kaser, who moved into what is now known as the Bevington Mansion in the 1940s, and lived there until June died in 1982. Following this, the property became part of the Museum Complex, and the garage was moved south, from near the house, to its present location to represent a Blacksmith Shop.

The metal horse sculpture in front was made by Carroll Beverlin who spent most of his life in Peru and a few years in Winterset. Born in 1907, Carroll was a farmer and mail carrier in Madison County. He died at the age of 100 in 2007.
